💉cansat💉

This project arose around November 2024 when one of my high school teachers asked me for help to plan the design and construction of a cansat (a mini satellite the size of a coke can) to present it to the competition held by ESA. This first cansat was built mainly by my 14 year old cousin and it was quite flawed in design and execution, mainly due to the lack of the necessary materials, as several of the teachers in charge of the organization bought components that were not suitable, either because they were too big or because they hindered the incorporation of the rest of sensors and modules.

The second cansat (which is the subject of this article) arises from the frustration of having made the first one so badly knowing that it could have been much better, its design began in May 2025 and we started to build it in July of the same year, this time instead of joining the different components with inhuman amounts of silicon and faith, we designed several pcbs with the different microcontrollers and modules.

The secondary mission of this cansat has been focused on self-diagnostics and redundancy, both of vital importance for a real mission. For this we used two microcontrollers (an ESP32 and a atmega 2560) both capable of operating independently, each with its own radio module (a lora and an apc220), several sensors and several current meters to monitor the consumption of each of the modules and the entire cansat.

In total the cansat has 5 different pcbs designed by us and another one, used twice, stolen from someone, living creature from this our home the internet

As batteries we used lithium batteries stripped from vapers found on the ground.
